Project Idea Description
The Swiss fashion and luxury sectors face rising selectivity among consumers who demand both authentic brand engagement and verifiable circularity. While brands possess rich, verifiable data regarding their material sourcing, craftsmanship, and end-of-life sustainability efforts, traditional methods of communicating this (such as static web pages or sustainability reports) remain entirely passive. They fail to harness the immersive attention environments where consumers already spend their time. There is a pressing need for a branded interaction layer that makes consumers actively engage with a product's lifecycle rather than simply scrolling past it.
This project addresses this challenge by mapping the structural and pedagogical frameworks of educational escape rooms onto the consumer retail journey. It proposes an interactive platform where scanning a physical garment's tag launches a digital "quest." Instead of passively reading a product's history, the consumer is placed in a narrative-driven puzzle environment where they must actively trace the geographic route of the garment's textiles or uncover the techniques used in its creation to progress. To ensure scalability across thousands of distinct products, the platform utilizes Generative AI as a core design tool, ingesting specific supply chain data to dynamically adapt puzzle mechanics, narratives, and digital assets for each unique item. Successfully completing the experience rewards the user with digital wearables for partner gaming ecosystems, verified identity badges, or exclusive loyalty perks, such as complimentary repair services or coupons. This directly addresses the track's objectives by utilizing interactive gaming environments as spaces for discovery, bridging the gap between physical retail and digital fandom while actively championing circularity.
How might fashion and luxury brands leverage interactive gaming ecosystems to transparently communicate circularity and brand heritage? Current sustainability reporting is passive and fails to capture the immersive attention expected by modern consumers. This project proposes a branded interaction layer based on the mechanics of digital educational escape rooms. When a consumer interacts with a physical garment, they unlock a digital, narrative-driven environment where they must solve challenges to discover the product's origin, material sourcing, and end-of-life options. By integrating Generative AI as a design tool, the system dynamically generates personalized puzzles and narrative assets directly from the garment's specific supply chain data. Completing these challenges unlocks digital identity badges, wearables, or real-world loyalty perks, transforming traceability from a static document into an engaging space for discovery and brand participation.
