The Innovation Booster Fashion & Lifestyle empowers operational, technological, and social innovations developed with and for the Swiss Fashion and Lifestyle sector.
Leveraging the Leading House community and network, the Innovation Booster Fashion & Lifestyle creates a unique ecosystem enabling the dissemination of radical solutions to the challenges of the sector.
CALL FOR CHALLENGES SPECIFICATIONS
PROBLEM STATEMENT
We are searching for impactful and transformative innovation hypothesis to help the Swiss organizations and society adopting new radical approaches to technologies and cultural shifts, while embracing digitalization and enhancing resilience, agility, and adaptability in an ever-evolving global landscape.
The Fashion industry is struggling to keep up with the rapid acceleration of technology development. We want to foster a deep understanding of the current issues, supporting the co-creation of new potential radical solutions that might enhance industry response to a fast-moving technological and cultural environment.
In considering eligible innovation hypothesis, we report hereafter a list of topics and challenges to be addressed:
AI AND GEN AI
- User experiences and product recommendations based on preferences and behaviors.
- AI-driven content creation for personalized marketing materials, such as social media posts, product descriptions, and ads.
- AI-enhanced customer interaction to develop intelligent AI agents to allow consumer to have a more immersive and flawless brand experience and shopping journey.
- Gen AI for content creation, video making, and automatic product description NLP (Natural Language Processing)
- AI solutions to generate operational efficiency in production and processes.

3D-BASED TECHNOLOGIES
- Digital Ecosystem Integration: Interoperability between different digital tools, systems and stakeholders (designers, suppliers, manufacturers).
- 3D Model Creation: Techniques for scanning physical assets, photogrammetry, and CAD/CAM systems to create accurate 3D models.
- Archive and Heritage Management: Digital preservation, meta-tagging, and rights management for design archives and heritage items.
- Sample Sharing and Procurement: Creation and sharing of reliable digital samples across the supply chain to reduce physical sample production and process redundancies.

OMNICHANNEL, PHYGITAL EXPERIENCES & IMMERSIVE MULTIMEDIA
- Omnichannel integration to harmonize online and offline touchpoints for a seamless customer journey across devices and environments (AR/VR).
- Sensory engagement enhancing digital experiences through rich sensory interactions like tactile feedback, haptic devices, and visual cues (IoT).
- Accessibility and inclusivity focus on designing for users with disabilities through assistive technologies and universal design principles.
- User testing and feedback utilizing advanced tools such as eye-tracking, EEG, neurosciences, and motion capture to evaluate and refine UX/UI in real-world scenarios.
- Gamification and phygital experience to enhance the engagement through customization, rewards and games integrating digital elements for fashion (e.g., AR, NFTs, virtual try-on)

DATA INTELLIGENCE
- Hyper Personalization: Data intelligence enabling tailored user experiences and recommendations based on preferences, shopping history, and browsing behaviour.
- Optimized Inventory: Advanced analysis of sales patterns and trends to help brands forecast demand, reducing overstock and stockouts.
- Trend Forecasting and Adaptive Production: Social media and data analysis helping brands predict trends in real time for quicker responses and production of relevant collections.
- Data-driven quality optimization: Improve average quality of the production by leveraging the process data (measures and/or images, videos).
- IP and Data Protection: Management and protection of intellectual property, data security, and privacy.

ROBOTICS
- Robotics in Fashion production: Automation of production processes like sewing, stitching and garment assembly, improving production speed, precision, and reducing labour costs.
- Customization and 3D printing: Combination of robotics and 3D printing to enable on-demand, custom-fit clothing with complex designs, reducing overproduction and waste.
- Supply Chain Automation: Robots-based optimization of warehouse operations by automating sorting, packing, and shipping, streamlining logistics and speeding up order fulfillment.
- Sustainable Fabric Production and Innovation: Robotics and AI to reduce textile waste, recycle materials, and improve energy efficiency in fabric manufacturing.

HOW DOES IT WORK
STEP 1:
- Fill in the form to join the program (https://share.hsforms.com/1qDHHl70cSw-8GSu1k6ycuA4m7jf)
- In the form describe your innovation hypothesis defining it briefly in the dedicated field
- Confirm your availability to participate in-person in the mandatory workshop on May 6th – ‘Challenge Your Ideas’ in Lugano
- Submit your Innovation Hypothesis on the jointcreate platform by April 16th clicking on "Submit" botton on the top right.
Required fields:
- Picture
- Hypothesis name (“Project Idea Name” field)
- Short description (paste your Innovation Hypothesis)
- Set privacy option to “Publish” and “Open”
- Add your Lead Organization
- Click on “Create” button to submit
STEP 2:
- Your submission will be evaluated by the Innovation Booster Team
- You will be notified with the result
- Innovation Teams formation will be facilitated to find the best research or implementation partner if not already present;
STEP 3:
- Participate in the Co-creation Workshop 'Challenge your ideas' in Lugano May 6th 2025
- Industry problems and challenges will be explored to discover the underlying assumptions;
- Collaboration among different stakeholders and experts will support you with Design Thinking methodology to co-create ideas for radical solutions.
STEP 4:
- Submit your idea by May 25th, 2025*
*Guidelines will be shared during and after the 'Challenge your ideas' Workshop to ensure a proper submission before the deadline.
STEP 5:
- Once all the Innovation hypothesis will be gathered, the jury of the Innovation Booster Fashion & Lifestyle program, which includes experts and decision-makers from the industry, will vote for the best ones to join the final step of the competition, the Pitch Day.
STEP 6:
- An optional virtual workshop, Innovation Arena, will take place on June 5th to help you to enrich and refine your idea, preparing for the Pitch Day.
STEP 7:
- Pitch Day: on June 17th submitted ideas will be pitched to the program Jury and the selected 5 winning ideas will be awarded with ≈ CHF 27'000.-.
- The awarded ideas will be announced on June 27th
IMPORTANT: Participation in the Workshop 'Challenge your ideas' on May 6th is mandatory for ideas to be eligible to access the Pitch Day and receive funding.
An Innovation Hypothesis is a potential new approach to solve an existing Industry problem, to be further explored and developed with the help of experts and fellow innovation team members during a dedicated workshop.
This is a call for challenges and not a call for ideas.
The program focuses on the very first stages of the innovation funnel to seek new approaches to solve current Industry problems with the objective of idea testing.

NOTE: Innovation teams must be formed to Pitch the idea and be funded. Innovation teams consist of at least one research partner and one implementation partner. Please state in the form if you already identified an Innovation team partner.
