Event Description

Solar Fuels for Carbon-Neutral Mobility

Philipp Good starts with a motivation for renewable synthetic fuels as environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels. Then an overview of their main production pathways is given and their characteristics and limitations are outlined. In the following the seminar focuses on the sun-to-liquid pathway that is followed at Synhelion. The solar fuel production process is explained in more detail and the current status of the technology is reported. The webinar closes with an outlook on the next development steps and a roadmap for introducing solar fuels on the market.

Speaker

Philipp Good got his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich in 2016. In his PhD project he closely collaborated with a concentrating solar power company, where he gained at hand experience in the design, modelling, engineering, and testing of high-temperature solar receivers and the alignment, characterization, commissioning, and operation of solar collectors. He joined Synhelion in 2017 as one of its first employees and is now active in the role of CTO.
