Event Description

Description

Level-4 autonomous vehicles (L4 AVs) are reshaping the future of transport with their ability to self-navigate without human intervention. Yet, true end-to-end automation extends well beyond the journey itself. To achieve seamless logistics, intelligent systems must also manage the critical steps before and after transit: loading, unloading, customer interaction, navigating complex urban spaces, and interfacing with human operators and infrastructure.

AI-powered humanoid robots have the potential to close these gaps, working alongside autonomous vehicles to create an integrated, adaptive, and scalable logistics network. By connecting these autonomous systems through real-time optimization and decision-making, AI can orchestrate collaboration between humans, robots, and vehicles—setting a new benchmark for efficiency, resilience, and customer experience in logistics.

Workshop Goal

The aim of this Workshop is to identify barriers in E2E-Automation, connect the most relevant stakeholders across logistics, robotics, AI, and mobility, and to foster collaboration that leads to actionable pilot projects. Planzer and the IBNM aim to design, test, and validate Pilot-Project in real-world logistics operations—showcasing the transformative potential of end-to-end automation.

Why it matters:
The next wave of logistics innovation depends on moving from isolated automation toward fully coordinated ecosystems. This challenge calls for bold ideas, prototypes, and collaborations that demonstrate how AI, humanoid robotics, and L4 AVs can converge to deliver seamless, sustainable, and human-centered logistics solutions.

Key Questions

This challenge seeks to explore barriers, opportunities, and frameworks for integrating L4 vehicles, humanoid robotics, and AI-driven orchestration into the logistics value chain. From warehouse dispatch to last-mile or even last-meter delivery, participants are invited to collaborate with key stakeholders and address guiding questions such as:

Leading questions of the Workshop:

· What are the current pain points and barriers to the integration of humanoid robots?

· How can humanoid robots be integrated into the logistics value chain to seamlessly collaborate?

· How does AI orchestrate the system to adapt to disruptions, traffic, or changing customer needs?

· What interfaces and infrastructure are required to make it scalable and safe in dense urban contexts?

· How can society and public authorities/municipalities be involved and which role do they take?

· How can regulations, liability frameworks, and ethical standards adapt to support fully automated logistics ecosystems?

· What sustainability strategies can minimize the energy and environmental impact of such systems?
