Organization Description

RemotelyGreen sees virtual collaboration as a way to make international professional collaboration far more sustainable - with less environmental impact and far greater inclusiveness. Indeed, since we first conceived the project at the end of 2019, the pandemic has shown just how viable such a move could be. But with travel becoming possible again, can we encourage people to continue connecting online? Can we plug the key social and technological gaps that have been highlighted during the last 2 years?

The biggest challenge of online events, from our experience and interviews, is the ability to meet people. A lack of meaningful social connections has shown increased disengagement during online events and led to poorer wellbeing amongst employees working from home or in distributed teams. The event platform we have created fixes this. Going live in early 2021, we’ve connected nearly 1500 people in just under 200 events. Organisers consider us “unique” and to be “one of the most valuable activities being offered to members” of their international community. Participants find our events “energising”, “refreshing”. With a simple and human-first interface and an AI-backed facilitation system the platform brings back the spontaneous and serendipitous fun of getting to know new and old acquaintances during events.
