🚀 Breaking Ground on the Future of Sustainable Construction! 🏗️🌍
Exciting news from Bluefactory Fribourg-Freiburg, site of Switzerland Innovation Park West EPFL.
Based at Bluefactory, the Smart Living Lab has officially entered its construction phase. This 5,000 m² state-of-the-art facility is a living laboratory designed to rethink the way we build, live, and innovate. In 2027, it will accommodate 10 academic disciplines whose research and development activities focus on the future of the built environment.
🔬 What makes it special?
- A real-world testing ground for sustainable construction and energy-efficient solutions.
- The facility will provide workspace for about 130 researchers from @EPFL, @the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg, and the @University of Fribourg.
- Host of the Centre for Worldwide Sustainable Construction (CWSC), advancing research in Fribourg and Lausanne.
- Winter gardens are a key element in the building design. They serve as places to relax and experiment, and are an essential part of the natural ventilation system which is designed to backs up the building's mechanical ventilation system.
