Post Description

Two new containers just landed here at Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich.

And they brought something special: An innovative 3D-stone-printing system that builds architectural elements from recycled stone powders.

It is using safe, water-based binders – a clean process that produces fire- and weather-resistant parts comparable to C30 concrete, without toxic emissions or complex post-processing.

Developed by Pietro Odaglia and his team at Digital Building Technologies, ETH Zurich, this marks the start of a new pilot installation coordinated by Ralph Rosenbauer

The system is now being set up in a dedicated outdoor facility at IPZ, enabling large-format printing and long-cycle production — a key step toward bringing mineral-based additive manufacturing into real construction workflows.

Why here at Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich?

Because large-scale additive manufacturing is not just welcome — it’s a strategic focus area for our park. With major construction activities coming up on our campus, we see enormous potential for direct collaboration and on-site integration.

Curious how this technology could be used for your own projects?
