Building Europe’s Space Future: Land Baden-Württemberg at Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich

It was an honor to welcome the Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, and Minister of Science and Research Petra Olschowski at Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich (SIPZ). ✨🤝

Land Baden-Württemberg is one of Germany’s strongest innovation and industrial regions and stands as the country’s leading aerospace hub 🚀. It is also home to the German Aerospace Center and the German site of ArianeGroup.

The state combines world-class research institutes 🧪 with leading universities such as University of Stuttgart, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), and The University of Freiburg. The delegation included professors from these universities together with representatives of aerospace companies, who met with counterparts from University of Zurich, ETH Zürich, and the Center for Space and Aviation Switzerland and Liechtenstein(CSA) on the campus of Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich. 🎓🌍

“I was pleased to welcome Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann and his delegation to the Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich. Their visit underscores the value of dialogue between Baden-Württemberg and Kanton Zürich, where complementary strengths in industry, research, and infrastructure open new perspectives for Europe’s space and innovation landscape, including tangible opportunities within ESA programs and future commercial initiatives.” — Peter E. Bodmer (SIPZ Foundation Chairman)

A roundtable on the NewSpaceEconomy included industrial players Starlab, Airbus Defence and Space & Space, Thales Alenia Space, APCO Technologies SA and Beyond Gravity. 🛰️✨

💬 “Through CSA, Switzerland Innovation Park Zürich, the Dübendorf airbase and our agreements with strong American aerospace partners, the Greater Zurich Area offers access to a unique space ecosystem for the whole German-speaking area und Europe.” — Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Stark (Board of Trustees CSA, VP Research UZH)
