This slogan truly comes to life at the Railway Innovation Hackathon 2026, taking place at SBB CFF FFS in Bern Wankdorf. Around 70 hackers are on site, all working intensively on one of three selected challenges. ๐ค
The challenges at a glance:

This challenge explores how AI can transform transport planning in Switzerland. The goal is to build a prototype that supports planning across all modes of transport (train, tram, bus, etc.) and makes it faster, smarter, and more transparent.

This challenge focuses on how AI can help detect and interpret emerging risks that may impact SBB’s strategy. Participants are developing Approaches that automatically collect and evaluate publicly available information — political, social, environmental, economic, legal, and more — to identify potential disruptions and relevant trends for SBB’s risk landscape.

The focus here is on the new Park & Ride facility in Matten and how it can become the preferred choice for visitors to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Participants are working on Approaches that simplify communication, pricing, and integration with public transport, especially for international summer guests who currently prefer to drive up the valleys.
Challenge Owner: Jungfraubahnen
Until tomorrow, teams will continue refining their Approaches. Tomorrow afternoon, the solutions will be pitched, and the jury will select three winning teams.
We’re looking forward to the results! ๐
