Carbon Dioxide Valorisation

Project Idea Metadata

Project Idea Description

We absorb the CO2 that companies release to generate bamboo wood which has a high economical value.

We propose the use the bamboo because it absorbs CO2 36 more than any other plant, has a rapid growth (30 cm per day), has high economical value and can be used for multiple uses. We will place the bamboo in a greenhouse to further increase its absorption.

How does it work?

The co2 that companies release is stocked and distributed in a greenhouse where the bamboo is grown and at the end the bamboo obtained can be used for example as fuel, as an ecological material construction, as textile material, as cellulose etc. To give an example of the size of the plant, to absorb the CO2 released from the district heating of Caslano, which is 75 tons per year, we just need a field as a tennis court (20m x 40m). The bamboo obtained (90 tons per year), in this case, can be used directly as fuel for the district heating and thus having a savings of CHF 55k per year.

Our competitive advantages are: more CO2 absorbed per square metre, lower costs per tons of CO2 absorbed and lower construction impact.

In our roadmap we are now looking for partners for the realization of the test on the bamboo absorbtion of the co2 in the greenhouse. After that we will have our pilot test (e.g for a district heating) and then we are ready to start our business model which will have the structure of the EPC contractor. In this way we will make revenus on the engineering, procurement, construction, maintanance and consultancy and on the royalties of the CO2 disposed.

The data selected below are ONLY for Canton Ticino market, but the technology is applicable for the global market

We design and implement the construction of plants that sequester the CO2 released by industries to grow bamboo in greenhouses and use it as an ecological material construction and energy production.
