Project Idea Description
Problem: Corporate parking lots are used inefficiently
- Fluctating demand due to more flexible work environment (e.g. work from home).
- Access and pricing to car parks are only partly used to manage travel demand (mobility management)
- Site specific mobility management solutions and existing hardware limit feasibility of effective parking measures, such as priorisation of car pooling and CO2-efficient cars.
Solution: Efficient, targeted and open corporate parking management
- Predict parking demand and manage supply accordingly, e.g. open parking at certain periods for third parties
- Define hardware and software requirements and implement those to allow for flexible and effective parking measures., e.g. AI-based recognition of car occupancy and car type based on parking gate video camera.
- Manage and incentivise parking access to reach mobility goals, e.g. offer preferred parking rates for pooled and CO2-efficient cars.
- Create an ecosystem among corporate mobility managers, hard- and software providers (e.g. parking gate suppliers) and transport analysts/researchers to transfer and scale best practices
Our plan for the Mobility Booster:
Conduct a feasibility analysis with the following objectives
- Develop an AI-based parking demand prediction model and test its accuracy
- Research, define and publish parking gate requirements for use case at Roche Diagnostics Rotkreuz together with parking gate suppliers.
- Evaluate transferability and scalability in exchange with corporate mobility managers at other sites and other firms
Problem:
- Inefficient use of corporate parking lots due to fluctuating demand (e.g., work from home)
- Existing hardware and software limit effective mobility management.
Solution: Efficient, targeted, and open corporate parking management:
- Predict parking demand and adjust supply (e.g., open lots for third parties)
- Hard- and software that allow for new mobility measures
- Incentivize parking for pooled and CO2-efficient cars
- Build an ecosystem among mobility managers, tech providers, and analysts
