AI powered KPI-Driven Eco-Design platform empowering designers with sustainability metrics

Project Idea Metadata

Project Idea Description

The fashion industry faces a structural gap: sustainability and compliance assessments (Eco-Score, ESPR, STS2030) are performed after collections are designed, leading to costly reworks and misalignment between creativity, compliance, and profitability. Our innovation hypothesis is that embedding real-time sustainability intelligence into the creative process can radically transform how collections are designed.

This project aims to develop AI-driven solutions, leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), to support sustainability-oriented decision-making across various stages of the fashion product lifecycle: from product design to production planning and consumer customization. The proposed system is designed to guide designers, manufacturers, and end-users in identifying the most environmentally responsible configurations of key product inventory parameters, such as raw materials, transport modes, energy mix, production locations, and technologies, as well as customization choices available to consumers. This guidance is delivered through advanced conversational agents (e.g., chatbots) capable of real-time interaction. We propose a designer-first workspace where teams can select materials and suppliers guided by KPIs, costs, and compliance thresholds defined by the brand. Every creative choice, switching a fabric, changing a supplier, instantly updates environmental scores, margins, and compliance status. Thanks to am intelligent mapped supply chain and supplier ranking, designer see the broader impact of their decisions, from CO₂ and water use to supplier energy mix and sustainability ratings. The platform also suggests reuse of deadstock fabrics, compliance-friendly alternatives, and provides AI-generated visual inspirations. At the end, both item-level and collection-level sustainability scores are generated, ensuring full alignment with brand priorities and regulatory requirements. This approach shifts sustainability from reporting to a compliance-by-design paradigm, enabling brands to reduce waste, accelerate time-to-market, and empower creative teams to design with transparency and responsibility from day one.

An AI-powered eco-design workspace that helps fashion brands integrate sustainability, compliance, and profitability directly into the design phase. The platform provides real-time feedback on environmental KPIs, materials, and suppliers, allowing designers to see the true impact of every creative choice as they design. By combining creative freedom with data intelligence, it bridges the gap between design, sustainability, and supply chain teams — making sustainability a driver of innovation, not a constraint. Through early integration of LCA metrics and Digital Product Passport (DPP) data, the solution enables fashion brands to design collections that are circular, traceable, and regulation-ready from day one.
