Project Idea Description
If students and young people take a digital course in “fashion literacy” co-designed with USI–ITDxC and co-taught by fashion houses, which integrates DPP (Digital Product Passport) modules and AR micro-pilots to visualize the “journey” of a garment, then:
1. knowledge of sustainable fashion increases measurably (target: ≥ +30% pre/post score),
2. the intention to make responsible choices grows (target: ≥ +15%),
3. brands gain actionable insights into the most effective content, channels, and transparency/traceability metrics for the younger generations.
The problems we are starting from:
• Poor literacy on sustainability and supply chains, mistrust/greenwashing,
• DPPs that are often incomprehensible to non-experts,
• Lack of engaging and verifiable formats with shared metrics.
Assumptions to explore (in the co-creation workshop):
• Which academy-brand co-teaching model generates the most trust and participation? What multimedia information is best suited to online learning? (Video, audio, interviews with experts, etc.)
• What is the minimum set of DPP information that is truly understandable and relevant from an educational perspective?
The project aims to create a digital course to be shared with schools and universities in Ticino, introducing students to the topic of sustainable fashion through a “fashion literacy” program. The idea is to help young people better understand how the fashion industry works, how it is linked to sustainability, and how their choices can make a difference. Since the course will be shared across schools and universities, this will ensure the validity and reliability of the content.
Thanks to this collaboration, fashion companies can connect directly with students (today's and tomorrow's consumers) and gather feedback on how to communicate sustainability issues, what influences their purchasing decisions, and how they view the industry and its future. The fashion industry can thus become a teacher—or co-teacher—of certain topics or courses.
