Project Idea Description

Problem

A cup of coffee leaves most of the energy behind, giving it great attributes and extreme versatility - burning even longer than wood and no deforestation is needed which is a problem in countries where wood is on of the main export products.

Today coffee waste is mostly discarded going to landfills, a busy café produces around 5kg of waste per day, that comes out to over a tonne per year.

Solution

We have developed a method and solution for turning waste into money by upcycling coffee waste - and it is available to anyone with access to at least 4 tonnes of coffee waste per year.

A sample case would be coffee roasters working with refill-pickup of waste, when they deliver coffee - full truck there, full truck back to the warehouse where our machine sits.

Where does the revenue come from?

We will lease out our machines along with a recipe for mixing to customers for a fixed fee and fixed period.

At the end of the lease a client can select to:

Why would you convert coffee waste into briquettes?

Based on very simple calculations we assume that our solution has an EROI (Energy Return On Investment) of around 8.

For this our assumptions are that 1Kg of coffee contains 18-21Mj, and our machine consumes around 1.35kW/h

Management Team

The management team consists of a team with very different and complementing skills, from hands-on in the coffee trade, to pure finance.

Marko Klacar

The initiator and driving force of the project, currently active in banking and financing.

Vast experience from various areas in finance.

Alfons Schramer

Owner of Mondo del Café, long career in the coffee-trade

Operating successfully in coffee machine leasing and whitelabel coffee roasting / packaging
