Project Idea Description

In this project we aim to reuse side streams from various industries and combine them to make a novel product with dual functionality to replace insulation and concrete. Residual hemp biomass, repolyol (from PU mattress recycling), expanded glass, and PLA are combined to produce a modular block capable of providing both strength and protection needed to construct a sustainable structure. This project aims to negate the use of concrete fully and utilise carbon-sequestering feedstock.
