About Stream by Stream

Climate change is not only about technology and resources. Our ultimate goal is to show and prove that also a social, cultural & philanthropical approach can contribute to climate protection, including everybody. No matter ethnicity, budget or minority groups. Also, we want to increase the daily awareness for climate protection and social integration. There is no better media then music to unite all those people and spark a social change.

We offer sustainable music playlists on all popular streaming services, uniting independent stakeholders who share the same interest in sustainability. This initiative makes sustainability free, easy, and accessible to everyone.

Situation and problem definition

Beginning of May 2022 we won an "innovationbooster" price at EnergyLab encouraging us to interfere more with the customer. The only communication today with our followers happens throughout social media, which also delivers only randomly and not to all followers. We would like our community to join "Stream by Stream" directly, evaluating and voting on "Stream by Stream" -artists, -playlists, -genres and SDG-projects. There could be much more social activities as well, to animate our community helping us, or to communicate with each other. We also would like to use the platform to show transparency of our activities.



Aim of the work and expected results

We would like to get the E-mail-Adresse as well as geographical information about our community and a channel to communicate and sending news to them (incl. audio, sound or podcasts). Today's IT-possibilities and existing SW-applications are huge. We except you to show what existing SW-modules/tools are available and what modules should be developed (programmed) to build a social communication platform and how this could be realized (UI/UX)

It is open to the student to explore and evaluate the the customer- and users-needs, and to develop a concept for an interface (Web / App).

As only a prototype will be created during this project, we expect a cost estimate for a later, full implementation of the app.


Documentation and presentation preferred in english, but language skills shall not have influence on your grade.


Desired methods

Use of agile, iterative & incremental methods: The supervisor and the customer should be regularly informed about the current status and the further procedure should be discussed together.

Probably bi-weekly meetings with the customer (and optionally the supervisor).

For this purpose, a short project status report (~1 page) is to be sent to the supervisor regularly on the eve of a meeting, which provides information on the following points:


Approach

Use a morphological box to show user-needs and technological solution as well as evaluating them on priorities, complexity, price and service-effort. For the most preferred path we would expect a plan by stage, sketches of the user-Interface and if possible a realization, maybe including a brief working prototype of the project- and artist-evaluation to test and evaluate first user experience and satisfaction. Expected time schedule should be ⅔ of the project for designing the solution and ⅓ for prototyping and documentation, considering the prototype as proof of realization.


Creativity, variants, innovation

We expect full creativity of a GenY-Student to think into this generations expectations and needs, using his/her IT-skills and -knowledge to design a simple but effective solution for a startup. The result shall be a breakdown from a vision of "The ideal Solution" to a realistic plan by stages considering priorities, low hanging fruits and to be shortly realized with a reasonable budget. (in other words: dreaming yes, but realizing for the real world)


This Project is rather considerated for a more practical (less research/theoretical) oriented student, preferring a real world project, proving his/her skills and ability also to include a demo/prototype into his final Presentation/Dokumentation).


We need a concept, structure and design of a cool customer interface for a social, cultural and sustainable startup targeting GenY- and GenZ-customers. We are looking for a simple but catchy concept, using existing technologies to have costumers to interact with the company news, projects, artists and more. It's a greenfield project which has to connect to the existing website and streaming services as Spotify, Apple, etc. If time allows a simple prototype shall visualize the basic features of the UI and UX
